What is Sangha?
Sangha is a Pali term used in the Buddhist tradition to mean a community of practitioners on the path to freedom. It is a refuge of support for your practice. It is time with spiritual friends who share in the experience of life's challenges and how to face them with wisdom, compassion, and equanimity.
Who are the teachers?
Many of our teachers began with Bill Knight in MBSR at some point in the the past two decades. We dedicated ourselves to meditation and living mindfully. We also study with various respected teachers, attend retreats regularly, and have received teacher training. Most of us still mentor with Bill.
New to meditation?
Check out our courses, retreats, and our resources page. If you can't find something that helps you get started with meditation, contact us. We'll be happy to help!
A welcoming space.
A safe space.
Sangha is one of the most welcoming spaces you will find. Everyone there is working toward living a life of integrity, compassion, kindness, and discernment. You will meet a group of warm-hearted, open-minded, caring, and friendly people all here to support their practice and each other.
Meditation hall etiquette.
Whether you are attending in person or online, when we meet for meditation it becomes a meditation hall. Often we observe noble silence, pay attention to bell rings, observe the five Buddhist precepts, hold the space for each other, and respect the natural unfolding journey that is different for everyone.
What is Dana?
Dana is another Pali word. It translates as generosity. In a way, generosity makes the world go 'round. We tap into that by checking in with our hearts, recognizing the value of the teachings that are freely offered, and giving what we can in response. It is a way of sharing in the reciprocal and intimate dance of life. It is counter to our western monetized values and an opportunity to investigate our beliefs and biases around that.
